Roar Roundup: Two Top-Five Picks and Briggs Joins the Tigers

author Raylene Easton Raylene Easton 22 October, 2026
Richmond heads to the draft holding picks 2 and 5, and a big ruck has arrived from GWS. Plus the AFLW Tigers' trip north to the Gold Coast, Capital Tigers news and more.

Trade Period Wrap: Two Top-Five Picks

What a final day! Richmond pulled off a deal for pick 5, which Port Adelaide received as compensation for losing Zak Butters, giving the Tigers two picks inside the top five, at 2 and 5, plus pick 44 at the national draft on 19 and 20 November. The price was pick 22 and the club's 2027 first, second and fourth-round picks. Add ruckman Kieren Briggs and wingman Nathan O'Driscoll, and it's been a big fortnight at Punt Road. List boss Blair Hartley says it's a chance to further bolster the talent on the list.

Meet Kieren Briggs

At 201cm, Kieren Briggs brings eight seasons and 88 games of experience from GWS, and he's signed as a free agent on a four-year deal. The 26-year-old Sydneysider says Richmond's history and the chance to play footy in Melbourne were big reasons he said yes, and he's keen to help the club's young players get the most out of themselves.

AFLW Round 10: Demons Too Strong

Friday night at IKON Park was a tough one. Caitlin Greiser kicked the first goal of the night, but Melbourne led by 21 at quarter-time and ran away in the third to lock in their finals spot. The night still had plenty to celebrate: co-captain Gabby Seymour played her 75th game, and Monique Conti returned and was named among our best.
